fundamentally flawed article as the author never defines “technology”.
My toaster is technology. I can guarantee I am neither addicted to it nor does the media talk about toaster addiction.
If you are talking about social media, talk about that.
If about video games, say that.
The author also sadly neglects to mention how modern games and services are designed to be addictive, by the very same psychology researchers. They use the same methods known to casinos for decades, but even more modern and advanced, helped by big data.
Either the author is wholly ignorant about this or wishes to hide it to strengthen their thesis, and that’s awful.
Either way, these are major flaws that diminish any value this article could have had.
