A wider view is needed, so let me introduce another criticism of alcohol undustry and FDA; truth in labelling and full disclosure. Alcoholic beverages are exempt from ingredient labelling by the FDA and BATF. One does not have to stray far when looking at the shelves fo find excellent examples because consumer deception if rife. Corona beer is popular, but beer has no German like purity laws. Corona, in spite of its American celebration as a boutique exotic is the bottom of its manufacturer’s line; the only one that is not naturally brewed. It is only a simple recipe of synthetic alcohol, colorings and flavorings wuth added sida carbonation. Hood River Distillers facility I have personally toured. This company has a complete bottom line of products ranging from “Scotch”to “vodka”to “deKyuper”. they have tank cars of synthetic alcohol on their rail siding pump and blend with water to desired proof, add artificial coloring and flavouring and call it what they want. No regulation. Thyamine is a great idea if consumers are able to appreciate its presence as an ingredient on a complete ingredient label with full disclosure. Fix the engine along with the power windows.
This article is an example of my growing loss of respect for Undark.org. Next, I expect an urgent plea, in the form of an Undark article, for vitamins with Mushrooms and Fish oil with Marijuana.
Why be facetious when human health is involved? Did you not know the history of white rice with its name as “rich man’s disease”. Read this article and do your homework. Your white rice is vitamin fortified for good reason.
