Quite frankly, in this country, USA and perhaps elsewhere, the consumer is fed a non stop blitz on buying cheaper foods for many reasons, but, they forget about quality, how it is grown or raised, fed, etc. etc. The consolidation of various brands is unnoticed as the names stay the same yet they are all owned by one or more corporations who owe their profits to stock holders, and many time that shrieks “buyer beware”, or at least read the label on the products you are buying. It has been known for sometime now, that of all of the beef consumed nation wide, 85% of it is from 1-3 major corporations again, whose only allegiance is to the stockholders, unless that company is privately held leaving the consumer high and dry for valid product information. With the average worker’s weekly paycheck virtually stagnated by the laissez faire approach the gov’t. has with big employers, the so-called middle income income wage earner is trying to feed a family and will no doubt not have any other knowledge other than their “super” markets tempting price structure.
